May 31 UPDATE: Current community Qigong offerings

As the Covid-19 pandemic unfolds across the world, we are all adjusting to disruptions in our routines and social relationships. Many people are living with increased stress and anxiety. And it appears that “shelter in place” or self-isolation and quarantine protocols will be with us for some time.

This time presents us with real challenges, and some of them are difficult. But it also presents us with a window of opportunity. We invite you to join us as we develop some new online initiatives, hosted on the Zoom teleconferencing platform. These are experiments—we will try them for awhile and adjust as needed. All are free, and you may join at anytime. Come and go as your schedule and circumstances permit.

Distance Learning page. Several Qigong schools and groups are taking their teaching online. A few of these offerings are detailed on the new Distance Learning page. If you have some time and want to take a deeper dive into practice, you can’t go wrong with the teachers and programs outlined there.

The home practice video page is the most visited page on the SQC website. Within this diversity of practices, your are bound to find resources and practices that resonate with your temperament, experience, and physical condition. We also encourage you to attend our “Qigong Sunday Matinee” for teacher led introductions to these practices. 

NOTE regarding outdoor practice group meetings. All of our community practice groups are on hiatus, with the exception of those on the Isle of Hope and Tybee Island. These groups continue to meet outdoors while strictly observing social distancing guidelines. At this time, these groups are open only to residents living nearby. The practice leaders have confirmed with municipal authorities that if a group is small (less than 10 people), it may meet in a park or open space. 

Please check our online Google calendar for updates to confirm that sessions are meetings, both online or in person.

Again, we encourage everyone to find a practice or group of practices that resonates with you. The only “wrong” way to do Qigong is to not do it all!

Certainly, it is not clear what the future may bring. But now, in the present, we have the power to make choices as to how we occupy ourselves in the coming days and weeks. Once the Covid-19 pandemic has subsided, we will have an opportunity to reflect deeply on how this time has re-shaped the contours of our lives. Take care of yourself, so that you can take care of others !
